Job Summary: As a shipping clerk at our manufacturing facility, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the precise and punctual delivery of our products. This role entails preparing shipments, confirming orders, and liaising with carriers to ensure on-time delivery. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and a sense of urgency are essential for maintaining accuracy and enhancing customer satisfaction. This position provides a secure opportunity to support our operational efficiency and guarantee the prompt delivery of products to our valued customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Hours: Week 1: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm, Week 2: Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-4:30pm and overtime as needed
Pay: $20.95 per hour starting wage (Wage may differ for full-time Bullard team members)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a safe, organized work environment
- Process a minimum of 125 shipping line items daily, including both domestic and international shipments
- Act as a liaison between manufacturing and customer service departments concerning shipments
- Generate shipping labels, bill of lading, customs documents, and all necessary shipment information and documentation. Verify the inclusion of all required export documentation for domestic and international shipments
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and loading of shipments into delivery and transport vehicles
- Conduct audits on selected shipments
- Utilize critical thinking and methodology to determine the optimal type of shipment and carrier based on factors such as cost, shipment type, materials, and specifications
- Seek clarification and understanding for any aspects of the job that are unclear
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be willing and able to operate a forklift
- Must be able to use a computer and learn programs such as Microsoft Word, ERP system, Star Bill of Lading, UPS, Fedex, etc.
- Must be well organized and have attention to detail
- Must have a sense of urgency and know how to prioritize
- Must be able to solve problems and think critically
Preferred Qualifications (If applicable):
- Previous experience driving a powered industrial vehicle
- Experience using a pallet jack and stretch- wrapper
- Previous experience working as a shipping clerk in a manufacturing environment
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- The physical nature of the job includes but is not limited to: standing for long periods, bending, pushing and pulling loads, ability to reach, bend, twist, turn, pull, and move boxes of various weights.
